This scheme, applicable to all employees as of October 1, 2026, constitutes a genuine lever for skills management and support of professional career paths.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"400\" data-end=\"451\">A meeting dedicated to the employee\u2019s career path<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"453\" data-end=\"659\">In substance, the CDI is neither a performance appraisal nor a simple \u201ctraining\u201d review. It is a dedicated discussion focused on the employee\u2019s career path, centered on anticipating and developing skills.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"661\" data-end=\"704\">Mandatory topics addressed during the CDI<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"1298\">The French Labor Code, in the new wording of Article L.6315-1, requires that the following be addressed at a minimum:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"1298\">the skills used in the current position and those expected to evolve;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"1298\">the employee\u2019s situation and career path in light of the company\u2019s transformations;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"1298\">training needs (whether related to the current position, a career move, or retraining);<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"1298\">career development aspirations, including transition projects;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"1298\">the use of the Personal Training Account (CPF) and potential additional funding;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"1298\">as well as information on career guidance counseling services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"1300\" data-end=\"1319\">Revised frequency<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1321\" data-end=\"1623\">The frequency of this interview is also modified:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1321\" data-end=\"1623\">first interview: within one year following hiring;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1321\" data-end=\"1623\">subsequent interviews: at least every four (4) years;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1321\" data-end=\"1623\">comprehensive review: every eight (8) years;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1321\" data-end=\"1623\">after certain long absences: only if no CDI has been held in the previous 12 months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"1625\" data-end=\"1672\">Specific provisions for experienced employees<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1674\" data-end=\"1916\">For experienced employees:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1674\" data-end=\"1916\">a CDI within two months following the mid-career medical examination;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1674\" data-end=\"1916\">a CDI within the two years preceding the employee\u2019s 60th birthday, to address end-of-career arrangements and phased retirement schemes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"1918\" data-end=\"1960\">Practical arrangements for the interview<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1962\" data-end=\"2126\">Each CDI must take place during working hours, be conducted by a manager or an employer\u2019s representative, and result in a written report provided to the employee.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2128\" data-end=\"2202\">Penalty in case of non-compliance in companies with 50 or more employees<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2204\" data-end=\"2436\">In companies with 50 or more employees, the absence of a CDI and at least one non-mandatory training course over an eight (8) year period results in a corrective payment of \u20ac3,000 to the employee\u2019s Personal Training Account (CPF).<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2438\" data-end=\"2488\">Collective agreements and additional obligations<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2490\" data-end=\"3010\">Collective agreements may provide for a shorter interval, but never longer than four years;<br data-start=\"2581\" data-end=\"2584\" \/>Companies already covered must renegotiate their agreements before October 1, 2026;<br data-start=\"2667\" data-end=\"2670\" \/>In companies with more than 300 employees, the Social, Environmental and Economic Database (BDESE) must now include a consolidated overview of training, mobility, and retraining actions resulting from CDIs, thereby strengthening employee representatives\u2019 oversight of the effective implementation of commitments made during the interview.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3012\" data-end=\"3250\">When properly managed, the career development interview becomes a structured tool for skills management, a lever for preventing occupational wear and tear, and a concrete means of ensuring the employer\u2019s compliance with its obligations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3252\" data-end=\"3315\" data-is-last-node=\"\"
